In an exciting initiative aimed at fostering creativity, teamwork, and school spirit, Abdulrahman Kanoo School Diyar (ARKS) will hold its first-ever “No Backpack Day” today for its Lower Secondary cohort. This unique event encourages students to think outside the box and engage with their peers while reinforcing the school’s core values of uniqueness and diversity.
The Yr 7 to Yr 9 students left their school backpacks at home and explored innovative ways to carry their essentials. From recycled materials, pet carriers, traditional woven baskets to a guitar case were used. Ms. McKenzie- Music & Multimedia Coordinator noted, “We believe that stepping away from traditional school routines can spark creativity and collaboration among our students. This event not only promotes our core values but also encourages students to reflect on their impact within the community.”
In addition to hands-on activities, students had the opportunity to engage in mindfulness sessions and talk about community service projects, reinforcing the importance of responsibility and teamwork, during their first Lower Secondary Assembly.
