Today, ARKS Diyar Year 1 students had the exciting opportunity to participate in the Teddy Bear Hospital event, hosted by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). The event was designed to introduce young children to the world of healthcare in a fun, interactive, and educational way.
Throughout the event, students brought along their favorite teddy bears or stuffed animals, which served as “patients” that needed care. The children rotated through various stations within the Teddy Bear Hospital, including:
· Registration: Where students learned about hospital processes.
· X-ray: Exploring how doctors use x-rays to check for injuries.
· Triage: Understanding how healthcare professionals assess and prioritize patient care.
· Nutrition: Learning about the importance of healthy eating for growing strong and active bodies.
· Physical Activities: Engaging in fun exercises to highlight the importance of staying active.
· Dentistry: A station dedicated to teaching good dental hygiene habits.
· Arts and Crafts: Where children created their own healthy-themed art, reinforcing the day’s lessons.
The event provided a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about health and wellness in a playful and relaxed environment, helping them understand the importance of a healthy diet, staying active, and taking care of their overall well-being.
It was a fantastic day full of laughter, learning, and teamwork, and we are grateful to RCSI for hosting such an engaging and educational experience for the children. Katrina Mclernon, Deputy Head of Infant School stated “ This special event not only aligned with our school value of kindness but also highlighted our commitment to learning through a holistic approach. The students bonded with their beloved teddies while participating in engaging educational activities. This experience emphasised the importance of student well being while making learning fun. It was a day that left everyone feeling beary happy!”.
