Sustainability
At Abdulrahman Kanoo School Diyar (ARKS Diyar), sustainability is a core campus value embedded into both infrastructure and the curriculum. Key initiatives include a massive 500 kWp solar panel system, smart building technologies, and a hands-on “Recycling Warrior League” for students.
Renewable Energy: ARKS Diyar has installed solar panels that generate over 851,000 kWh of electricity annually, offsetting approximately 384 tons of CO₂ emissions each year. The campus also features wind-powered systems and on-site solar control rooms where students gain hands-on experience learning about clean energy technologies.
Smart Campus Tech: The school utilizes an advanced Building Management System (BMS) that actively minimizes its carbon footprint, earning the institution the prestigious Gulf Insider Award for integrating innovation with environmental responsibility.
Student Initiatives: Students are heavily involved in hands-on green programs. Initiatives include the “Recycling Warrior League”, electronics recycling drives, waste by Zain Bahrain.
Curriculum Integration: The school’s sustainability efforts are aligned with Bahrain’s Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, utilizing specialized curricula to teach environmental stewardship.
Wind Turbines: ARKS is the first school in the Kingdom to integrate renewable energy wind turbines and solar panels into its campus. These systems power campus facilities while promoting environmental responsibility and sustainability education among students.
Uniform Recycling: ARKS promotes sustainability by operating a “Green Uniform Recycling Box” in partnership with House of Uniforms (HOU). Families can drop off outgrown uniforms, shoes, and bags at the school reception. These are then repurposed or distributed to give the items a second life.
