In the round off for Abdulrahman Kanoo School Diyar (ARKS) anti-bully week, the Ministry of Interior (MOI) supported the programme finale with a guest speaker for the Yr 5 students. She talked about the importance of good behaviour, different forms of bullying- inclusive of cyber and how seriously the MOI and the Ministry of Education take these issues. Several events were hosted internally across the school which included a short play about kindness, message boards, classroom flags- all instilling in the students a culture of awareness of bullying and ways of preventing and responding to it as a school community.
Initiating the programme from the schools side was Mrs. Zainab Jaffar, who liaised with the Ministry of Interior to make the event possible, “In the week of awareness against bullying and from the principle of community partnerships between educational institutions and official institutions- ARKS hosted Ms. Lulwa Khaled Al- Thawadi from the Ministry of Interior to present a lecture. It was very well received and we hope the students take home some of the points and share with their family members”.
