International Peace Day

International Peace Day

Established in 1981 by an unanimous United Nations resolution, which aimed to provide a “shared date for all humanity to commit to peace, above all differences and contribute to building a culture of peace.” The 21st of September is set aside to observe International Peace Day and a programme event was scheduled at Abdulrahman Kanoo School Diyar (ARKS).

Across the school staff and students were encouraged to wear white, in a way to show unanimous support. Students were encouraged to use recycled materials and create globes and doves- both symbols of peace. These were displayed around the school. The school purchased an olive tree to be planted within the school grounds, a reminder of peace, harmony and friendship. Supporting the planting by Estates were students Liv, Hazel & Leyana.
