Chinese New Year Celebrated at ARKS Diyar

Abdulrahman Kanoo School Diyar (ARKS), celebrated its first Chinese New Year at the campus. Plum blossoms, water narcissus, diamond shaped paper, lucky oranges and the famous red envelopes were seen across the campus. A whole School colouring and craft competition was judged on the day by the schools Mandarin teacher Ms Fatima Sahwan, most notable colouring or crafting the rabbit- the zodiac animal symbolic of 2023.

Primary School students were given red envelopes to write a special message to their classmates and the entire school, staff and students, donned something red.

Speaking about the event, ARKS Diyar Mandarin Teacher Ms. Fatima Sahwan said: “I always had this wish to witness the day I see Children in Bahrain learning Mandarin. Today, I can proudly say this wish came true at ARKS, the only school with a Mandarin programme. Children at ARKS are not only learning the language, but also experiencing the beauty of the Chinese rich culture, which will enable them to discover new things and broaden their horizons.”

ARKS is the only school in the Kingdom to have a Mandarin Programme – the plan being that the school will extend this into High School in the coming years.
