Under the patronage of H.E Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Abdul Rahman Kanoo School Diyar (ARKS) was opened on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. In the presence of Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, and a number of Ministers, Ambassadors and Senior Officials. At the beginning of the visit, he unveiled the commemorative plaque marking the official opening of the school, and viewed its modern building and facilities with new designs that serve the strategic objectives of the Ministry of Education and are consistent with international standards, reflecting the cultural architectural façade of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
On this occasion, Mr. Tariq Abdul Latif Jassim Kanoo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abdul Rahman Kanoo School Diyar, noted that the establishment of Abdul Rahman Kanoo School Diyar was a continuation of the vision of the late founder Abdul Rahman Jassim Kanoo, may God have mercy on him. Maintaining what was recommended, we are able to achieve our continued successes in light of our permanent partnership with the Ministry of Education. Moreover, ARKEDU Group is the first group in the Kingdom of Bahrain to include two independent schools, AbdulRahman Kanoo International School and Abdul Rahman Kanoo Diyar School.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abdul Rahman Kanoo School Diyar, Mr. Tariq Abdul Latif Jassim Kanoo, announced the addition of Secondary school classes starting from the next academic year 2024/2025. The opening of the new school campus is part of the school’s efforts to emphasise the importance of continuing the approach of the late founder Abdulrahman Jassim Kanoo, who believed in the importance of excellence and superiority. In light of this, the school has achieved many achievements during its long journey, including:
- The school’s students join the Crown Prince’s Global Scholarship Program.
- Our school graduates the highest number of IB graduates every year. They achieve the highest results consistently.
- Our students perform more than 150 hours of community service within the CAS IB program.
- Our graduates join elite universities around the world such as Notre Dame, Stanford, Oxford, Cambridge and McMasters and achieve the highest results.
- Our students achieve the highest participation results in the MUN programme.
Abdul Rahman Kanoo School Diyar pays great attention to supporting the student academically even after they graduate from school, as it is the only school that provides an annual scholarship for its distinguished students, in implementation of the founder’s will. 12 students have benefited from these scholarships over the past fourteen years, at a total cost of more than Million dollars.
Abdul Rahman Kanoo Diyar School was built on an area of 26 thousand square metres, and its design took into account the modern requirements of the Ministry of Education regarding the design of a new model of schools that keeps pace with the continuous educational development in the Kingdom and provides a comfortable and enjoyable environment in education.
The school contains 52 classrooms, four multi-purpose courts and a basketball court approved by the International Basketball Federation, with a capacity of approximately 1,500 students.
It also provides a tracking system of the employee and student, which is the first system in schools in the Kingdom of Bahrain through which parents can monitor their children’s journey to and from school – which reflects the school’s strategy in protecting the child and providing a safe environment.
The school’s design is characterised by modernity, the requirements and specifications of sustainability and green buildings, and the application of a policy of rationalising energy consumption to preserve the environment and natural resources. Abdul Rahman Kanoo School Diyar is also considered one of the first schools in the Kingdom of Bahrain to use renewable energy such as solar panels and wind turbines, in addition to an air conditioning water recycling system. ARKS curriculum programs are distinguished by teaching three languages, including Arabic, English, and Mandarin for the first time in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It is also distinguished by being the only school that adopts the Oxford curriculum for all subjects and levels of study.
